In five days I will be shedding the parka, scarf, mitts and ridiculous space-boots for flip-flops, sundresses and bikinis. Cancun, baby!

I’ve scored my very first press trip, courtesy of my new favourite person, Andrew Hayes. I owe him a mojito or three, and I’m looking forward to actually spending some more time with him outside the hazy event known as TBEX. Also in the mix is Monica Wong from A Pair of Panties and Boxers, who’s probably more deserving of a vacation than anyone I know.

I spent some time in the Rivieria Maya two years ago, but not in the Cancun. I’m staying for three nights at the Cancun Caribe Park Royale Grand, and OMG did you see that beach?

I need to feel warm again. I need to not walk downtown and plead silently with the icy sidewalks to keep me standing upright just a little longer. I need to get out of my Snuggie. I need to spend the next 5 days at the gym, because Christmas screwed me into the “Oh well, I won’t need a bikini for at least another 6 months” mentality.

Let’s just hope there’s no Swine Flu outbreak this time.

So now I have to dig out my summer clothes, and start gathering some reading material for the long flights. And maybe learn to be a photographer genius in less than a week, and figure out where to find SPF 293432 sunscreen. Wouldn’t you know I still have 3 bottles of the stuff underneath the bathroom sink, two of which I was using during my last trip to Mexico? Biodegradable, SPF 60.

THAT’S how badly I need sunshine.
