One of my fondest pub crawls was in Berlin. We went to a few really great venues, and we had a bucket of water thrown on our group by an angry tenant from a balcony at one of our bus stops. It was a week night, we were rowdy, and they probably take the same route every night, so the tenant likely knew we were coming. It was a total shock getting soaked with water, but a real hoot! My friend ended up losing me at some point during the night and I made the very drunk, hard to understand irishman accompany me home. I had no idea where we were by the end of the night and didn’t want to wander the streets alone. Ended up getting home without incident and left the irishman with some locals drinking beer and playing guitar a few blocks from the hostel.

I went on one in Split, Croatia ran by an American guy who went on holiday there and decided to stay. It went to all these random pubs, including one pirate themed spot with power hour of free wine and beer, all nestled into Diocletian’s Palace. It ended at a big nightclub but I didn’t quite make it there.

I also went on one recently in Cairns, Australia that was absolutely insane. The whole idea is to hook people up. Example: At the door guys are given a nut and girls are given a bolt so they can “screw” all night. You win stuff if you find the matching one. It was a blast though.

Ah, good memories from Harlow… I had totally forgotten that we met up with Batman! :)

These pics are awesome! Many people come to my city for the night life. I haven’t gotten to go out in foreign cities because I haven’t really travelled to any yet, but I can imagine that it would be amazing. For now I will live vicariously through you!

It would be really hard for me to decide between the pub crawl in Saskatoon and the pub crawl in Charlottetown. . . and in comparison to your locales, I feel pretty lame ;P
But both were part of student veterinarian conferences, and involved some hilarious games (ever sucked beer out of the finger of a rectal glove along with 4 other people? or poured a small bucket of beer into your partner’s mouth using 60cc syringes? HILARIOUS STUFF let me tell you. . . )

Saskatoon required us to take yellow school buses between bars, which was hilarious, and one of the clubs had horrifying yet also amazing decor. . .
But I think Charlottetown was my favourite, not just because of my undying love for PEI. . . but because of the people. The group of students from Montreal were HILARIOUS and at James Gate we had the most hilarious time. . .
Also, my team name on that pubcrawl was blowfish. The pictures that inspired are classic.

My one big sadness from vet school is that I wasn’t able to attend the symposium the year it was in Montreal… bet that would’ve been an epic pub crawl. . .

The island of Ios in Greece, legendary! I think anyone who’s been island hopping can agree with that one. Barcelona was also pretty epic, until the wee-wee hours of the morning. And my hometown of Montreal, during the Grand Prix Weekend (that was more of a club crawl than a pub crawl). Thanks for stirring up some good memories Candice!

I did a pretty awesome pub crawl in Rome that I’ll never forget. There were probably 150 of us and at one point hundreds of pizzas in take out boxes showed up and later I was dancing in the street with a friend who had a rose in his mouth. Epic to say the least. That was during my first Contiki tour ever, through out Europe and that whole trip was pretty much one pub crawl :)

** I was just in Berlin and those F&%!#ers smoke everywhere! In the subway (not on the trains though) and in the bars! even the bartenders smoked in the bars! (they told me they only do it after 10pm after the inspectors who go around to make sure you aren’t smoking are off work…. wtf??) I smelled like ass and my throat burned most of the time I was there but still loved it haha

I considered making up an exciting story but I figured you’d see through it right away.
I am batman, though (that part seems totally plausible, right)?!
    ;)

Oh my god. That sounds awesome, all of it.

  • http://www.candicedoestheworld.com Candice

HAHAHAHA. That sounds insanely awkward and also kinda awesome.

  • http://www.candicedoestheworld.com Candice

Na na na na na na na Batman!

  • http://www.candicedoestheworld.com Candice

Unfortunately I’m not the spry, young whipper-snapper I once was! Can barely handle my liquor these days. Hah.

Love that both of those cities have pubcrawls, and St. John’s has NONE. I mean, for tourists at least.

  • http://www.candicedoestheworld.com Candice

The fact that you mentioned both Greece and Montreal in this comment makes me adore you.

  • http://www.candicedoestheworld.com Candice

Ughhh, smoke. So glad we don’t do that here.

Why have we never done a pubcrawl together?

  • http://trustmaggie.wordpress.com/ maggie

well, they were put together by the vet students. . . i’m sure if they decided to go crazy and have the conference in st john’s, they’d do a pub crawl here as well :P

A groom dressed as batman – I like it. I just did a great one last night in Budapest, it was a great way to see some of the very cool bars this city has. I don’t do them a lot but when I do it is good fun :)

  • http://www.candicedoestheworld.com Candice

Same, don’t think I could handle them too often! Haha.
