Well colour me excited and tickle me pink! The fab Amber DeGrace nominated me to participate in this sweet photoblogging contest from TravelSupermarket.com.
Deets: “We’re looking for bloggers to publish a blog post with a photo that captures the following 5 colours – Blue, Green, Yellow, White and Red. On your blog post, tell us where the photo was taken and try to include any other additional information about the moment the photo was taken, what you could see, smell, hear, feel and perhaps a witty caption about that photo or trip in general. If you’ve written a post about that trip on your blog in the past, be sure to link to it so people can find out more!”
Prize: 2000GBP.
My bank account is pretty much starving for 2000GBP to spend on travel. I also like colours and pretty things. Here are my picks! (Pics?)
BLUE!

Blue (da ba di da ba da?) in Cancun, Mexico
I arrived in Cancun late in the evening, was ushered to my bedroom, and then I slept for 10 hours straight. When I woke up the next morning, I slid back the curtains and practically melted into the floor. BLUE! Everything so BLUE! How does water exist in these blues?! Did I mention blue is my favourite colour? It’s true. Blue.
GREEN!

After I lost my job and decided to hang out in Nova Scotia for awhile, I also took a trip to Cape Breton with my buddy Carlo. I was giddy. I kept telling him to pull over so I could take photos, and he laughed at my delight. “Wait ’til you get to the Rockies,” he said. But I always look back on my extremely brief time in the Highlands as one of my favourite memories, and it’s the green hills and still waters and windy roads that I love the most.
RED!

One of my all-time faves, from the iconic Lake Louise in Alberta’s Banff National Park. This has been my desktop wallpaper for over a year.
WHITE!

S'no problem
Newfoundland does snow really well. I rant a lot about how I hate winter and being cold, but I don’t mind so much when the snow is soft and fluffy and you can dive into it like a swimming pool. This is from Cape Spear, the most eastern point in North America.
YELLOW!

Hey look, I match
I haven’t written about Prague yet, but it’s coming. Oh yes. (My laptop crashed last week, so I’m waiting to go back to Newfoundland before I get it fixed.) Prague was my favourite city on my recent ContikiBVP trip. Its red roofs and insane nightlife and ultra cheap beers made for the perfect storm in my little world. Here’s ME, atop a super secret rooftop restaurant in the middle of the city. I was sworn to secrecy by our Contiki guide, but if you pay me the right amount, I’ll divulge the info. That’ll be $5, please. (I’m poor.)
My Nominations
As per usual, I am late to the game. Here’s hoping you sexy people haven’t already been nominated!
Riley Platt from Riles for Miles: I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with Riley in Montreal recently, and soon she’ll be headed to St. John’s. I think she’s stalking me.
Corbin Fraser of iBackpackCanada: Basically story as above, just replace “she” with “he.” Corbs is da man.
Alouise Dittrick of Traveler Ahoy: Long-time blog friend, fellow Canadian. Have at ‘er!
Cathy from Cathy Trails: I LOVE the visuals on this gal’s blog. You will too, unless you have poor taste.
Natalie Taylor of Nearafar: Natalie was my companion in Prague. We tore up the city! Read her!
