Greetings from Reykjavik!
I am in ICELAND! My mind is a little blown by the fact I’ll have knocked out two of my top THREE bucket list items this year: immersing myself in Irish culture, and now gallivanting around Iceland with little plans and zero itinerary. But that’s how the best experiences happen. No plans, no problems.
I’m spending the weekend in Reykjavik before renting a car and setting out to the Skaftafell area on Monday with a few buddies of mine. Then fellow travel blogger Luke and I are hopping in another rental and taking to the open road. No plans. Just adventure. Hell, we don’t even know where we’re staying, but we have a tent and a couple bottles of wine to pull us through the cold October evenings.
This trip also coincides with my latest partnership with a company named TripleSpot. Triplespot is a new mobile application (available on iPhone and soon to be available on Android) that serves as a social guidebook, “making it easy for you to capture, organize, discover, and share new experiences.”
Triplespot reached out to me because they were looking for more than those “ubiquitous selfies” (although I admit I do love a good selfie every now and then). They felt like my personal experiences aligned pretty well with the app’s mission to capture those tiny moments in travel that make life so delightful. Like setting free a baby puffin, or coming eye-to-eye with a humpback whale while snorkelling in the Atlantic Ocean.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be creating a handful of lists about my time around Iceland. The first: One weekend in Reykjavik. It’s Friday night and we’re getting ready for the RUNTUR! I don’t even really know what it is. But I’m promised a good time.
If you’d like to follow along, download the app and find me there. It’s a fun, easy tool to use so far and I’m enjoying the content beyond foodie pics and cocktails with umbrellas in them. You can also find some examples on their Community page.
